Welcome, Colorists! 08.07

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 16, 2007, 8:30 PM
:bulletblue: Welcome to DeviantART Colorists! :bulletblue:

This is a club where you can find high DPI linearts available to color. So, essentially, this is now your online coloring book. =D

:postit: Recent News :postit:

02.16.2007: Again, I apologize for the long absences. I've been busy with work and school.

I will always check back every few months to update, so don't worry, you can still request to join. ^_^

Looking for old news? You can find it in the archives.

:star: Current Contest :star:

None right now. Keep checking back, though!

:writersblock: Featured Tutorials :writersblock:

Whenever I come across a tutorial I find particularly good, I'll post it here.

I was very impressed with two of *augustc4's tutorials. Both his Heavy Lifting Tutorial (for separating you lineart from the backgroun in preperation for coloring) and his Spicey Curry Brush Tutorial (for quick, blended coloring) are not only easy to follow but provide several useful tricks for coloring. =)

Want to see more tutorials? Go to our Tutorials section. =D

To become a member of DA-Colorists you must:
1) Be either a colorist or a lineart submitter.
2) Send a note to the club with the subject "Join"
3) In your note copy and paste the following phrase: "Color! Color! I like to color, color in your coloring book!"
4) Devwatch the club to receive updates
5) Add our icon to your journal or link to us in your sig. (Please note if you need help with this)

Please don't comment on the front page saying you want to join. It's more than likely it will not be seen and your request will not be processed. Please send us a note as per the above instructions!

:painter: Submission :painter:

There are two different types of submissions: lineart and colored lineart. Please send a note to club containing either of those two categories as your subject. It will make things a loteasier on me. I repeat: please place "lineart" or "colored lineart" in your subject, depending on which it is.

If you are submitting lineart, please make sure that it is your own lineart. I will not accept lineart from an artist that is not you!* Also, please try to have lineart that is high DPI. Meaning, when you scan it the setting on the scanner is 150 dpi or higher. 300 dpi is preferable. Remember, this club promises high dpi lineart to make coloring easier (It's much more difficult to color with detail when the image is really small. Low dpi = small image). Linearts should also be inked or very, very clean pencil drawings without shading. These will be placed in the gallery.

If you are submitting a colored lineart, it has to be a lineart from this club's gallery. It also has to be colored by you. This isn't a club for people to show off other people's work. Also, when you send me your submission, please include the original artist's name in the note. This will make things much easier on me. These will be placed in scraps.

*If you have express permission to submit the lineart, please have the original artist send the club a note. That is the only way I will accept lineart from a different artist.

:magnify: Club Rules :magnify:

1) The Golden Rule. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
2) No flaming. If you have a problem with another member take it to note or IM them.
3) Please do NOT favorite the work posted in this gallery. If you want to add an image to your favorites, please visit the artist's devpage and favorite their submission.

Sure thing ^^ What kind of picture interests you? I draw mostly men, but I do have females also, and I do mostly medieval. My style is like my avatar (sort of american? Err- It's hard to compare it ^^; ), but I have other stuff too. Otherwise, if you have time, pretty much anything in my gallery has a lineart to it, unless its 100% pencil. If you want to pick one, I'll e-mail the high res version :)

I'm a line artist- am I suitable? I'd love to get someone else to colour some of my work- I don't get time to put effort into most of mine ^^;

The club that Okami mentioned, ColorMeCool, is DEAD. So this is a great replacement!

I'd like to join because I don't really know anything about coloring and would like to learn. I love drawing line art, too, so if other people like to just color and not draw -- then we're a perfect match! ^_^

No. It can be colored traditionally. ^ ^
~ofudamaster:iconofudamaster: Apr 22, 2005, 7:01:27 PM
Would it have to be colored digitally?
I can do good traditional coloring with Pentone markers, but I don't have Photoshop.

Did you know that there's a club like this already on DA? It's called Colorme, or something like that. Not that I have any objections I'd rather join this one instead of that in a hope that your name will attract mainly FMA fans. ^^

Don't think I understand what you're trying to say. ^ ^;; This community is for those people who like to color other people's colorless works.
